Does it seem like all you ever do is organize the same areas of your home over and over and over again? While it’s true that decluttering is an ongoing project, there are ways to stay organized.
Whether you make a home for everything or have regular purge sessions, you can adopt habits that will help you stay organized.
Making a Home for Everything
You want to get in the habit of making a home for everything so that things are easy to put away. This makes it so easy for your family to help you stay organized. The problem is that people in your home often have no idea where things go because there isn’t a spot for them. Make it a habit to create a home for everything.
Putting Away Something After You Use It
Once you’re done with your craft supplies or kitchen shears, put them away. When you take time to put things away when you’re done with them, you’ll stay organized. Get your family into this habit as well. When the kids are done with one toy, have them put it away before bringing out a new one.
Picking Up Each Evening
Each evening, go through each room and put away items that belong in the room you’re working in. If you find items that belong in another room, put those in a bin. You can then go to each room and put those items away. Doing this each evening ensures that you home doesn’t become a wreck.
Getting Rid of Something When You Bring Home Something New
We all collect something. It might be books, movies, handbags, or even tee shirts. Whatever you collect, if you bring home a new one, an old one must go. Some people even choose to get rid of two. That’s up to you though.
Having Regular Purge Sessions
Decluttering your home isn’t a one-time thing. You must do this on a regular basis to keep your home clutter-free. When your home is clutter-free, it’s much easier to stay organized. Try to declutter at least four times a year.
It’s not hard to keep your home organized. All you need are habits to help you. It might be putting away something when you’re done with it or getting rid of something when you bring a new item home. The more habits you adopt, the easier it will be to keep your home organized.
