You may think that decluttering your home is too hard (and it's easy to feel overwhelmed). The truth is there are so many items that you can get rid of right now. Whether it's old cards or makeup, you can get rid of these things and start decluttering your home.
Old Greeting Cards
It seems to be almost out of guilt that we hold on to old Christmas and birthday cards. Unless you have something that means a lot to you, you can get rid of these old cards today. You may even have friends that do crafts with cards and would be happy to take the fronts of the cards off your hands.
Plastic Food Containers
This doesn't mean to throw out all your food containers, it just means to throw away the ones you may be guilty of hoarding. If you have butter bowls, whipped topping containers, etc that you have washed and put in your cabinet for leftovers, go through your cabinets and toss them in the recycling bin. You don't need them.
Books You've Already Read or Never Will Read
Are you a book hoarder? It's okay to have a nice collection of books and to even hold on to books that are good enough to read over and over. However, most books only get read once. You may even have bought books that sounded good, but you lost interest in. Go through your collection and donate the ones you've read or lost interest in.
Old Makeup
Did you know that makeup has an expiration date? Did you also know that old eye makeup can carry dangerous germs that can give you eye infections. Go through your makeup and toss anything that's questionable. The same goes for eye shadow brushes.
Expired Food
If you have a stockpile, there may be food that got forgotten about. Go through your stockpile and toss anything that is expired. You also want to make plans to use anything that is close to expiring (and maybe do a pantry challenge if you have a huge stockpile).
Old Magazines and Mail
If you're not in the habit of sorting mail as soon as you walk through the door, you may have a large stack that needs to be gone through. Go through and toss anything that's trash and process anything that needs attention so that it can be thrown away. If you have magazine subscriptions, recycle or donate any issues you've already read.
What are you waiting for? Start decluttering today!
