I love the look of stainless steel appliances, but I hate how they show every finger print and so hard to keep clean. I have some stainless steel wipes, but they are so expensive that I was looking for a cheap and easy way to clean stainless steel.
By just using 4 natural ingredients and a microfiber cloth, I was able to quickly clean and shine my stainless steel appliances.
Here's what you need:
- Homemade Window Cleaner (2 cups water, ½ tsp. Dawn detergent, and ¼ cup vinegar)
- Olive Oil
- Microfiber Cloth
First I sprayed all my appliances (fridge, oven, and dishwasher) with the homemade window cleaner to get all the spots off. Wipe with a microfiber cloth along the grain of the appliances (look closely and you'll see the grain).
Just the homemade window cleaner worked great on my fridge, and I probably could have stopped with just that. However, my oven had streaks on it (same as after using the stainless steel cleaner). So, I added a small amount of olive oil to a clean microfiber cloth and rubbed it into the appliances (again along the grain).
It gave a shine to my fridge, and it made the streaks on my oven disappear - making it look the best it's looked in a long time!
Apparently not all stainless steel is the same, so you can experiment with which product works the best on your appliances. In the future, I'll probably just use the homemade window cleaner on the fridge and that along with the olive oil on the oven.
