The majority of my family goes crazy over anything chocolate and peanut butter! So, these Buckeyes are the perfect candy to make for the holidays (and are a favorite in my family). They are great to enjoy as a family or you could make them for a party. You can make them ahead of time and store them in the fridge until they're ready to eat.
Buckeyes {Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls} Recipe
My family absolutely loves to eat Buckeyes (also known as Peanut Butter Balls) during the holidays! They are a delicious combination of chocolate and peanut butter and are perfect for holiday snacking or party.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter
- 1 stick of butter (can use margarine)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Melting chocolate
- Toothpicks
- Wax paper
Instructions
- Mix the melted butter and peanut butter together and mix well.
- Slowly add in powdered sugar and vanilla and mix until incorporated and a nice soft texture and doesn't stick to your hands. If it's not the right consistency you can add a little more powdered sugar to the mix.
- Roll the mixture into small balls and place on waxed paper.
- When all the balls are formed, stick a toothpick in the center of each ball.
- Place the peanut butter balls in the freezer for about 30 minutes or until firm.
- Melt the chocolate melting chocolate using your microwave or double boiler
- Holding the toothpick, dip each peanut butter ball into the chocolate, leaving the top part of the ball showing of peanut butter.
- Store in the fridge until ready to eat.
