Earlier this fall, I mentioned that I was taking part in The Bagster Bag Blogger Challenge. I was going to use the Bagster Bag to clean and organize our basement, since over the years, we had let some of the "junk" pile up. I shared a few "before" pictures of a couple of problem areas. But, to tell you the truth, really the whole area needed some decluttering.
Our trash company won't pick up huge piles of trash or construction debris at the curb, so the Bagster® Bag was a great alternative to hiring a dumpster for either major fall cleaning or a fall home improvement project.
It was very easy to purchase the Bagster Bag. I picked it up at my local Home Depot, although you can also purchase it from Amazon for $29.95 to save yourself the trip.
Once I purchased the bag, I followed the directions for placing it out in my yard. It was apparently a novelty in my neighborhood, since I noticed several cars slowed down to check out the bag. Having the bag in my yard was actually a great motivator to work on the project, since I tend to procrastinate on projects unless I have a goal or timeline.
Over the course of a couple of weeks, my husband and I added items to the bag. I noticed that some items quickly went "missing" from the bag, which I liked being able to freecycle a few items and we even gained one item (which I thought was rather rude).
Once we were finished with our project, I easily scheduled and paid for my pick up online (although you can also call to schedule). They stated that they would pick up the Bagster Bag within 3 business days, which they did. They even sent me an e-mail the day before they actually did the pick-up. I was hoping to take pictures of the truck picking it up, but they already had it in the back of the truck when I got home from school drop-off.
All-in-all, it was an easy process to use The Bagster Bag, and my family thanks me that we did the challenge, since the basement is now a little more organized and roomy as a result of the project.
What is The Bagster® bag?
It's a highly durable, woven bag designed for disposing as much as 3,300 pounds of debris and is big enough to hold full sheets of plywood, doors and even a bathtub, and it's a perfect choice when a dumpster is too big for the project, for a last-minute project, or projects that need an extended time for completion.
It's an affordable solution, since Bagster® bags cost $29.95 plus a flat rate collection fee that ranges from $79 to $159 per bag, depending on your area – 50 to 70% less than a dumpster rental. The Bagster® bag is sold at local home improvement and hardware stores, including participating The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware and True Value.
You can use the bag as long as needed and then either schedule pickup online at www.thebagster.com or by calling 877-789-2247. Waste Management will collect the bag within 3 business days.
