I love how many fun combinations there are for patriotic foods that are perfect for Memorial Day or 4th of July parties. These Patriotic Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs pair strawberries with angel food cake and chocolate to make a great red white and blue combination.
They're easy to put together on skewers and make a great party food for your next cookout.
To create the fruit portion of the kabob - simply cut the top off the strawberries and discard it. Then cut the berries in half widthwise so the points are still intact. You'll still be able to use the non-pointy ends in the middle of the kabobs.
Cut the angel food cake into small squares about 1 inch in size.
First add a piece of strawberry with a point on the skewer first. Follow with piece of cake, then another strawberry piece with no point, then a piece of cake, and finally another strawberry with a point on it.
Melt the blue and white candy discs in separate bowls. Drizzle the chocolate over the skewers to look and taste. You can add them to a plate in a cute assortment.
