There's not much better than homemade cinnamon rolls! They make the house smell heavenly with their cinnamon scent, and they're ooey and gooey to eat. And, most importantly, they're really not that much work to make.
I love that I can do the work the evening before, so all I need to do in the morning is pop the cinnamon rolls into the oven (which is especially great when you have house guests).
They whip up super easy if you have a bread maker. But, even if you don't, you can use the dough paddle on a KichenAid mixer (or just knead them by hand).
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
There's nothing better than homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast (especially on Christmas morning). You can whip up a batch of cinnamon rolls yourself with this easy homemade cinnamon roll recipe. You can even get them started the night before to minimize your work in the morning.
Ingredients
Bread Dough
- 1 Egg plus enough room temperature water to equal 1 cup
- 3 tbsp. Oil
- ⅓ cup Sugar
- 1½ tsp. Salt
- 3½ cups Bread Flour
- 2 tsp. Active Dry Yeast
Filling
- Softened Butter (so it will spread easily)
- Brown Sugar
- Cinnamon
Frosting
- Powdered Sugar
- Milk
Instructions
Cinnamon Rolls
- Add all the bread dough ingredients to your bread machine and put it on the dough setting. The machine will knead the dough and let it rise
- If you don't have a bread machine, you can either mix the ingredients in a KitchenAid mixer or knead by hand. Then put the dough in a bowl and let rise
- Once the dough is finished kneading and has risen once, roll it out flat into a rectangle on a clean surface
- Spread butter over all the dough
- Add a generous amount of brown sugar on top of the butter
- Sprinkle cinnamon on top of the brown sugar
- Roll the dough into a long log
- Cut the dough log into pieces and arrange in a pan
- You can cover and put in fridge overnight
- Pull out of the fridge 45 minutes before baking to allow the cinnamon rolls to rise again
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes (or until slightly brown on top)
Frosting
- Add powdered sugar to a bowl and add enough water to mix it together until it's like a thick syrup. You can just keep adding powdered sugar and milk until it's the right consistency
- Drizzle the frosting over the top of the cinnamon rolls
