Let's face it. There are those toys that our kids beg for and then hardly play with. There are also those toys that hold up really well and barely look used at all.
What happens when your kids outgrow their toys or just don't like them? Why not donate them? There are so many wonderful places to donate gently used kids toys. Let's take a closer look.
Women's Shelters
Women's shelters are an excellent place to donate kids toys. The families in these shelters often have no time to gather their belongings. This means that kids rarely have toys to play with. When you donate to these shelters, you are helping kids take their mind off what they've gone through. Even if there aren't any kids in the shelter that are the recommended ages for the toys, there likely will be in the future.
Homeless Shelters
Just like women's shelters, toys can allow children in homeless shelters forget about what they're going through. If your area has a homeless shelter, this is an excellent place to donate gently used toys. Those toys will bring so much joy to kids who have so little.
Public Elementary Schools
Public schools have very little funding. This means that teachers are often the ones who have to pay for the supplies. When you donate toys to kindergarten teachers, you're helping provide toys for the classroom, but also allow the teacher to spend money on other supplies. This is an especially good place to donate educational toys.
Churches
Another great place to donate gently used toys is churches. Sunday school programs can always use more toys. If parents bring children to evening services, some churches will allow kids to go to the Sunday school room to play.
Charity Thrift Stores
Last, but not least, you can also donate gently used toys to charity thrift stores. Look for charity thrift stores that are good charities. Some charity thrift stores keep a large percentage of the profits. Do your research and support thrift stores that truly help the community.
Stop letting the toys your kids no longer play with clutter your home. There are so many great places where you can donate gently used kids toys.
