In my quest for a slower and more meaningful December spent with friends and family, I plan on completing 30 Days of tasks to get ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving...and I invite you to join me.
Day 7: Create a Homemade Gift List
Yesterday, you brainstormed some gift ideas for the people that you need to buy for. Some of those ideas may have been homemade gifts.
I love homemade gifts. Not only can they potentially be inexpensive if you're on a tight budget, but they can also be very meaningful since they are made especially for the recipient.
The only trouble is that they can take a lot of time and planning, which can make it stressful if you try to do them at the last minute (just ask me how I know!). No problem, because we're starting early, right?
So, take a piece of paper and list the homemade gifts you'd like to make. Start planning what supplies you already have and which supplies you need to purchase.
If you need to brainstorm some ideas, Google or Pinterest are your best friends.
Our Homemade Gifts:
Each year, I make a custom photo calendar for my parents and in-laws with pictures of my kids and the rest of their grandkids. It takes a lot of work to ask the rest of the family for photos, pick out the best photos, add pictures to the calendar, and make sure that I have a semi-even number of each of the kids included. Every year, I say that I'm going to finish it before Thanksgiving, and it never happens. I'm going to start now with specific tasks so it really happens early this year.
Other homemade gifts I've made in the past include a photo book, homemade baked goods, fun ornaments, and more.
What about you? Do you have any homemade gifts that you make each year?
