You’ve cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, but there may still be areas of your home that are being neglected (even using my free Spring Cleaning printable checklist).
Don’t stress about it. Many other people aren’t cleaning these areas either. In fact, many people never even think to clean them. Let’s look at things you should clean but never do.
Underneath the Stove
Have you ever pulled your stove out from the wall and looked under it? You are about to be grossed out. Grease, crumbs, pet hair – there’s loads of stuff living under your stove.
Grease builds up under your stove and causes bacteria to grow. While you’re at it, go ahead and pull out your fridge as well and clean under there, too. And be sure to break out the bleach – you’re going to need it.
Back of the Fridge
While you’ve got the fridge pulled out, clean off the coils. Dust builds up on these coils and causes your fridge to work harder. When your fridge works harder, your electricity bill goes up.
You can use your vacuum to easily remove the dust.
Electronics
Tablets, laptops, keyboards, remotes, smartphones – the list goes on and on. These items are touched and used on a daily basis. This means they are covered in germs.
Purchase some electronic wipes and clean your electronics on a regular basis.
Personal Care Items
There are a number of personal care items that need to be cleaned. Makeup brushes, hairbrushes, toothbrushes – all these items need to be cleaned.
Anything that’s touching your skin picks up oils and these oils cause bacteria to grow on the item. Even your toothbrush can be a cesspool of germs. There are great tutorials online for cleaning all of these personal care items.
Dishwasher
Do you know what’s lurking in your dishwasher? A study showed that there’s a LOT of bacteria. Thankfully, it was stated that there was nothing to worry about from these bacteria, but yuck.
Look through your dishwasher manual for instructions on how to take your dishwasher apart for a thorough cleaning. You can also use this natural dishwasher cleaning recipe to clean your dishwasher on a regular basis.
Washing Machine
Last, but not least, if your washing machine is giving off a funky odor, you need to clean it.
If you have an HE washing machine, you can purchase special cleaners. In regular washing machines, you can pour white vinegar into the machine and run the washer empty. This will kill the bacteria living in the machine.
This article may have just added to your to-do list, but the good thing is many of these things don’t need to be cleaned daily.
Make a list and get cleaning. You can then mark a date on your calendar for going through and cleaning the items again when it’s time.
