Does your home look like a storage unit exploded? Does it seem like every nook and cranny is filled with – well, you don’t even know what it’s filled with do you?
It’s something many of us go through, especially if you know how to shop for great deals. Instead of continuing to allow your home to overflow, why not work on decluttering? Let’s look at some decluttering hacks.
Use Gutters in Unexpected Ways
Sometimes the problem isn’t how many items you own but storing them. Vertical storage is always a plus. One way to get more vertical storage is to install gutters on your wall. That may sound weird, but installing gutters on your wall is a great way to store everything from books to shoes to small toys.
Store Cords Inside Paper Towel Tubes
Don’t you hate opening a drawer and finding dozens of cords that are tangled together? Sometimes, you don’t even know what the cords are connected to. Use a paper towel tube to store each cord. You can then write what each cord goes to on the tube.
Hang Scarves on Shower Curtain Rings
Take a clothes hanger and attach several curtain rings. You can then thread your scarves through each ring. This is also great for ties and belts or any other long accessories.
Opt for a Minimalistic Wardrobe
If your closet is overflowing, you may want to scale down. A minimalistic wardrobe allows you to make several outfits from only a few pieces.
In other words, you want to opt for pieces that can be mixed and matched. If your wardrobe consists of mostly pieces that can only be used in one outfit, you may want to donate those pieces and keep only the ones that work in several outfits.
Go Digital
Are you a book lover? Is your home overflowing with books? That’s not necessarily a problem, unless you’re trying to beat the clutter.
There are so many books you can get through Kindle Unlimited. You may even be able to replace some of your current books with digital copies for free.
Another great tip is to simply have a box for donations and as you read a book, place it in the box to be donated.
You can also go digital with movies and music. A subscription to Music Unlimited on Amazon allows you to completely replace your CD collection.
Get Rid of Things That You Haven’t Used in Over a Year
There are items you’ll only use once a year, such as holiday decorations. However, there’s a good chance you have items in your home that you haven’t used for years.
DONATE THEM! These items are eating up precious space in your home. Let those items go to people who will get use out of them.
Your home doesn’t have to be a cluttered nightmare. There are so many small things you can do to create a clutter-free home. In some cases, it’s simply getting rid of items you no longer use. Choose just one of these tips and get started. You can then come back and try another. That way you don’t become overwhelmed and get the job done.
