Does it seem like there's clutter everywhere you look? Clutter can creep up on you before you realize it. Soon, every surface of your home is covered in knickknacks, papers, and who knows what else. Thankfully, it doesn't have to be this way. There are tricks to cut clutter.
Tackle the Paper First
Paper clutter is one of the hardest things to get started on. However, if you start with the hardest project, everything else will seem super easy. Grab all the papers around your home and put them into a pile. You can then create groups that the papers need to go into. These should be things like file, trash, shred, and deal with immediately. You'll find that much of the paper in your home can be tossed or shredded.
Have a Place for Everything
A reason people have clutter is because there's no designated spot to put things. Create areas where things should go and choose areas that make sense. For example, place your plates, bowls, and glasses in the cabinets nearest the dishwasher. This allows you to quickly and easily put things away.
Be Tough
It can hard to let go of things that remind you of someone. It might be a cookie jar that was your grandmother's or a painting that hung in your childhood home. However, if you're holding onto these things for simple nostalgia, but don't love them, let them go. Donate them so that someone else can discover them.
Buy One Get Rid of Two
Another reason people suffer from clutter problems is the things they love. It may be handbags, tee shirts, or even novelty socks. When you bring home something new, get rid of two that you already own. For example, if you bring home a new handbag, donate two of your old ones.
Get the Family Involved
Get your family to start tackling their own clutter. Help your kids go through their clothes and toys and donate them. Also get your spouse to go through their belongings and get rid of things they no longer use or wear.
Your home doesn't have to be a cluttered mess. There are so many tricks you can use to tackle the clutter once and for all. It's not something that will happen over night, but it's something that you and your family can work on together. Soon your home will be the clutter-free home you've always dreamed of.
