The Summer Olympics are coming up very soon (and I'm so excited!). If you're as much of a fan of the Olympics as I am, you will definitely be watching them almost non-stop. But, it might be nice to make it more social and throw an Olympics party. However, a party can get pricey, depending on how many people you plan to have over and what you plan to do. You need to worry about food, games, beverages, etc.
However, here are some tips on how to throw an Olympic Party on a budget, including:
Decor
First and foremost, the decorations are a must. You don't want to throw a bland party do you? Didn't think so. But going out and buying decorations gets expensive, so why not make your own?
Here are just a few ideas of decor you can make, starting with a table runner. Take two pieces of white construction paper, tape them together on one side and lay the taped side down (or if you happen to have an old white table runner you no longer use that would work too). Next, take a cup or paper towel roll and dip it in some contemporary-colored paints and make as many circles on the paper as you want. Voila! you've got yourself an easy no-cost table runner.
Another idea for decor is to make paper chains with the contemporary colors and use them as streamers. Last but not least, you can print out Olympic-themed patterns, cut them into circles and strips then paste them onto paper plates and cups for Olympic themed tableware.
Snacks
Now that you've taken care of your decorations, it's time to think about the snacks. It wouldn't be a party without them!
The first tip here is to plan ahead and be sure of how many people are coming so you don't overdo it and end up broke. After that is done start planning the snacks you want. Since you're on a budget, skip ordering from somewhere else. You can make cute themed snacks such as golden torch ice cream cones, Olympic ring cupcakes, Olympic ring donuts, etc. Just get creative!
Games
Most kids aren't going to enjoy watching the games, they are going to want something to do. So set up their own little Olympic games in the back yard. Make sure it's safe and that you can keep an eye on them just in case.
You can set up a scoreboard and even go out and watch them during a break or before the actual games start to cheer them on. It's a cheap way to keep them occupied and make sure that they are having a good time too.
It's always fun to throw a party for the Olympic games but it is even better when you can do it on a budget and not stress about it. These are just a few out may ways of how to throw and Olympic party on a budget.
Will you use any of these for your Olympic party? Do you have any ideas that aren't on here? Let us know in the comments!
