So, this morning I took my husband's vehicle to pick up groceries (and do a mystery shop). When I had finished with my shopping, I put all the groceries in the back of the van. Several months ago, my husband mentioned that the latch was broken, but I had completely forgotten about it.
Needless to say, as soon as I started driving the back of the minivan popped open, and two of my gallon milks fell out on a very busy intersection! I pulled into a drive and tried to figure out what had just happened. I debated whether I should risk it and try to salvage the milk (I could clearly see that one of them was leaking quite profusely). As I stood there trying to figure it out, a guy got out of his truck to pick them up. I ran across and he handed them to me. I was so embarrassed!
One of the milks just had a slow leak, so I brought it home and transferred it to another container, but the other milk was leaking too much to even put in the car. It's so hard to waste a gallon of milk worth $1.99 when I try so hard to save money on my groceries :-).
Anyway, my husband claims that these kinds of things only happen to me. OK, I admit that I may get into more than my fair share of jams :-). But, you must have some funny stories of similar things happening to you. If you do, please share...I'd love to hear them!

Aw, sad story! Last year I got a ton of Easter candy on sale and with coupons. I was so proud of myself at the checkout, but when I got home the candy had apparently been left at the register after I paid for it. 🙁

This doesn't just happen to you. Just last week, I went to Food Lion armed with three great Qs for Smithfield Bacon. I picked out my three packs of bacon and continued to shop. When I got to the checkout, the cashier for some reason had to manually enter the Qs for the bacon. It wasn't until I got home and was scanning my groceries for Nielsen that I discovered I had never put the bacon in my cart. Well, them's the breaks! Needless to say, I didn't get a deal on bacon that week.

This happened a LONG time ago whenI first started couponing but it was so weird that it has stayed with me. I was going out of the grocery store with my grocery cart behind a large lady who was moving very slow. I dropped my coupon folder which I neglected to band shut and they went everywhere. They even blew under the lady in front of me. I was running everywhere to get them. When she moved so I could get my coupons a HAM...yes I said HAM fell out from underneath her skirt! She had stolen it and put it between her legs! The assistant store manager saw the whole thing, called the police and the woman was arrested. I had to give a statement to the police. She was charged with shop lifting and I only found a few of my coupons. They blew away as I stood there in astonishment. I am just glad no one had to eat that ham...

Ah , your not alone , my husband insisted on putting some very exspensive sheets of growing foam in the back of the truck with a loose tie down , by time we got home none of it was there at all.

Oh my goodness! How funny! This just hapened to me a few weeks ago. I bought a bunch of Halloween candy (great deal at .50 or less per bag) at Rite Aid. Anyway, I had about 24 bags (to give to my mom and a friend) in the back of the SUV. Went to Walgreens for a "quick run", and got to talking to one of the cashiers about couponing and how she could save money. Ended up going through my binder to start her on the road to "couponing". I was so pleased with myself for helping someone else save money, and was smiling to myself all the way home. Needless to say, it was over 80 degrees that day, and I wondered why the bags with the candy felt "malleable". Ugh! All the candy had melted!

I get frustrated when I feel money has been wasted, too. Sorry that happened.

Sorry to hear your story. It happens to the best of us.
Here's mine: I went to the store just before a snow blizzard. Came out of the store with my stockpile and the snow was so deep. Went to get my car and got all the way home before I realized I never loaded my groceries into the car! Had to go all the way back in the snow!

Just be thankful that the gallon of milk only costs $1.99. Milk here is close to $4 a gallon, expensive when you can't even drink it because it (accidently) gets left in a hot car for most of the day!
And that ham dropping from the stealing shopper's dress story is hilarious!!

Thanks for all the comments! I had a good laugh as I was reading them! Now I have proof...it's not just me :-).
Keri: a couple of years ago I left a whole bag of groceries at Meijer during a shopping trip. I didn't realize it until I got home. I brought my receipt back to the store the next day and explained that I had left a bag of groceries. Customer service had a list. Whenever someone leaves a bag, they write down everything in the bag so when you come back, they have proof. I was able to go to the shelves and pick up all my missing groceries.
