Wouldn’t it be nice to give your home a brand new look? The only problem is money. It can be expensive to decorate a home.
Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be. There are so many ways you can give your home a makeover without breaking the bank. Let’s take a closer look at how to decorate your home on a budget.
Do One Room at a Time
It’s much easier to focus on one room at a time. You can think about the pieces you need, the colors you want, etc. With that said, if you do happen to find a piece that will fit the future theme of another room, at a great price, don’t pass it up.
Set a Budget
It can be so easy for finances to get out of hand when shopping for your home. You need to set an overall budget, plus a budget for each room. For example, you might want to spend $1,000 to decorate your home, but have a budget of $250 for your living room, $100 for your kitchen, etc.
Think About the Look You Want
Look around the room. What do you want from that room? What style do you have in mind? Do you want a professional looking home office? Are you designing a fun playroom? Knowing what you want from a room will make it much easier to shop for individual pieces.
Paint
Painting a room is hands down the cheapest, most effective way to decorate your home on a budget. Best of all, paint is something that allows you to be as bold as you want. After all, it’s just paint. If you don’t like it, you can always repaint it. Try a few different paint samples until you find the right color.
Reuse What You Have
Simply moving pieces to other rooms can make them feel brand new. It might be accessories or even furniture. You never know the potential of a piece until you try it in different ways. And, remember that spray paint can really change the look of a piece to match your new style.
Hit Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, and Flea Markets
There are so many treasures to be found in thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets. Have a list in hand of the pieces you’re looking for. If you’re buying furniture or wall art, make sure you have measurements. You don’t want to waste money on a piece that doesn’t fit the space.
Shop Discount Stores
Last, but not least, hit discount stores. Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Home Goods, and Walmart all have amazing home décor items at affordable prices. These stores should be your last stop. After all, if you can find awesome pieces in thrift stores and at yard sales and flea markets, you’ll save a lot of money.
Even if you have a small budget, you can make big changes in your home.
