No worries. Whether you go through your closet to see what you have or hit the clearance racks, you can save money.
Start with What You Have
It’s time to go through and purge your current wardrobe. You more than likely have pieces that need to go. These pieces may be outdated, showing wear, or no longer fit. Getting rid of these pieces will show you what you have left to work with. You can then start looking for pieces that work with what you have.
Shop Thrift Stores When There’s a Sale
People often think that thrift stores are always a great place to get clothing. That’s not true. In fact, prices can be higher than what you would pay at department stores when there’s a good sale. Instead, you want to shop thrift stores when they’re having a sale. Thrift stores often have bag sales and discount sales. Keep your eyes open. Also, make sure to carefully look at each piece before buying.
Hit Those Clearance Racks
You can often find some real gems in the clearance racks. Don’t be afraid to try on items that you think wouldn’t work on you. You can be really surprised at how different a piece can look once you put it on. Speaking of which, when buying pieces on clearance, always be sure to try them on. Many stores will not do refunds on clearance items.
Stack Savings
Check store policies. Some stores, like Kohl’s, will allow you to stack coupons on top of clearance prices. If you REALLY want to save money on clothing this is the way to do it. Last December, I was able to get a shirt for only $0.22 (including tax) at Kohl's by stacking coupons with my find on the clearance rack!
