Chances are one your largest bills each year is your grocery bill. We all have to eat, right?
The only problem is it can be so expensive. If only there were a few tricks to help us save money. Guess what? There are. Let's take a closer look at some grocery store hacks.
Save Money by Buying Whole Cuts
If your grocery store is having a sale on whole pork loin, you may see packages of cut up pork loin that are at least $0.20 higher per pound.
You don't have to grab the whole cut and butcher it yourself to save money. Most grocery store butchers will do it for free. All you have to do is ask.
A great tip is to get whole sirloin tips when they're on sale and have them ground into extra lean ground beef. You'll get a huge savings off the regular cost of ground beef.
Get a Rain Check
So many people don't think of this or don't know about it. If an item is on sale and sold out, most stores will offer a rain check. This means that you can come back, even after the sale is over, and get the item you went in for. Don't let those savings pass you by.
Know Store Policies on BOGO Items
If you're lucky, your store will have a policy that allows you to buy only one buy one get one free item instead of two.
Why is this a big deal? It means that you can get one item at half price. If you don't need two of the item, this is a great deal.
Combine Store and Manufacturer Coupons
Another thing you need to check out is whether or not your store will let you combine store and manufacturer coupons. If so, you can really save a lot of money. Just imagine getting one buy one get one free item and then using two coupons. That's a triple score.
Make Carrying Bags a Cinch with a Carabiner
You don't need one of those fancy hunks of plastic companies are charging $10 for to carry your grocery bags. Slip the handles of the bags through a large carabiner and you're good to go. You can get these for a couple bucks in the camping section.
Order Your Cakes in Advance
Last, but not least, if you want to ensure your cake is as fresh as possible, order it the day before. More importantly, order some random design that they won't already have in the case or weird colors of frosting. That way you're not getting a cake that has been setting in the cooler for a few days.
