Children’s clothing can be so expensive, especially when your child is growing like a weed. It’s hard to keep up with how much your child is growing when your bank account isn’t growing as quickly. Thankfully, there are ways to save money on children’s clothing.
Ask Friends
If you have friends that have kids slightly older than your child, ask what they do when their kids grow out of their clothing. If they are going to donate the clothes, ask if you can have them for your kids. This can be a great way to get clothing for free. Plus, your friends won’t have to make a special trip to make the donations. We gladly accept any clothing our friends want to pass on!
See If There Is a Freecycle Group In Your Area
Freecycle is a group where people list items they no longer want for free. The idea is that the items get reused rather than thrown away. You can list that you have a need for children’s clothing and list your child’s size. You’d be surprised at how willing people are to give away really nice clothing their children no longer need.
Join a Swap Group
Facebook is a great place to find local groups. You can sometimes find swap groups that allow you to swap with other parents. These groups are often a lot like freecycle. People list what they have and someone requests it. You have to be quick though. Items often go quickly.
Shop Thrift Stores
Thrift stores are an excellent place to find inexpensive children’s clothing. Thrift stores often have discount days or days when you can get a bag of clothing for one low price. Find out when your stores have discount days so that you can stock up.
Check Clearance Racks
Last, but not least, check the clearance racks of your favorite discount stores, such as Walmart. You can often find really great deals. Sometimes it’s off-season clothing, but if you buy a size or two larger, your child will have grown into the clothing next year. Also, don’t be afraid to look at the clearance sections of stores like JcPenney or Macy’s. You can often find great deals there, too.
You don’t have to go broke keeping your child clothed. There are so many easy things you can do to save money. In some cases, you may even be able to score free clothing. When your child is growing quickly, it pays to look for good deals and freebies.
