Halloween is the second highest money grossing holiday in America. However, that doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money to decorate your home.
There are so many easy things you can do to make your home fun and festive. Whether you create a scary dummy using things you have around the house or update your fall decorations, there are so many different inexpensive ways to decorate for Halloween.
Create a Dummy Using Things Around the Home
For this project, all you need is an old pair of pants, an old sweatshirt, gloves, a pair of shoes, newspaper or plastic bags, and a plastic light-up pumpkin or skull.
Stuff the clothes and gloves with the newspaper or plastic bags until stuffed tight. Arrange the pants and shirt and gloves in a chair on your porch so that it looks like a body.
Add the light-up pumpkin or skull and the shoes. You can then splatter the clothes with red paint, if you want.
At night, turn on the pumpkin or skull and you've got a great dummy for very little money.
Fill Glass Canisters with Halloween-Colored Candies
If you want an elegant way to decorate for Halloween, fill glass canisters with candies in Halloween colors. For example, you can use M&Ms in orange and black.
This is such an easy way to decorate your home or office. If you like, you can also tie wreath ribbon around the canisters to add another layer of color.
Update Fall Decorations
Many fall decorations are easy to update for Halloween. For example, you can add bats, ghosts, etc to your fall wreath. You can also add spider webs to your pumpkin and squash decorations.
If you have your dining room table decorated for fall, you can add a purple or black table cloth with a spider web print for a fun and festive look.
Make Your Own Wooden Yard Decorations
If you love to DIY, you can get thin wood or plywood at your home improvement store and cut it into Halloween shapes and paint for your front yard.
You can then place solar spotlights in front of each decoration so that when the sun goes down, the decorations show up. You can make witches, tombstones, pumpkins, ghosts, etc.
Hit Dollar Tree for Cheap Decorations
Last, but not least, the Dollar Tree has some pretty awesome Halloween decorations. You can find wooden signs, skeletons, window clings, and so much more for only $1 each. This is a great place to find decorations for a kid's Halloween party.
If you love to decorate for Halloween, but don't want to spend a lot of money, you can do so many things that cost very little money.
Whether you make your own wooden yard decorations or shop at the Dollar Tree, you'll love these inexpensive ways to decorate for Halloween.
