In my quest for a slower and more meaningful December spent with friends and family, I plan on completing 30 Days of tasks to get ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving...and I invite you to join me.
Day 5: Inventory Your Gift Closet
Do you shop for deals on gifts year-round? Or have you shopped ahead for some of the gift recipients on your list?
Now is the time to get organized and make sure you have a list of items that you've purchased already (I call that our gift closet). It's not a good feeling when you purchase a gift for a person and you later find that gift you already purchased for them back in March.
Just take a piece of paper in your Holiday Notebook and jot down all the gifts that you've already purchased. If they were purchased specifically for someone, be sure to write their name next to the gift. Or, if they were purchased just because they were a great deal and potentially perfect as a future birthday party gift. Perhaps some of those items may work for someone on your list too.
Tomorrow, we'll be brainstorming some gift ideas for the people left on our list.
Our Gift Closet:
Since we moved this summer, our gift closet is looking pretty pathetic. I certainly wasn't going to move anything extra that I didn't have to, and we were in transition for a good part of the year. I'm pretty much going to have to keep my eyes open for some good deals before Thanksgiving.
What about you?
