Spring cleaning is something that no one likes to do. The thought of cleaning your home from top to bottom is overwhelming, especially when you’re short on time.
Whether you’re a mom who works full-time or a mother involved in lots of activities, chances are your free time is limited. Let’s take a closer look at how to spring clean when you’re short on time.
Stick to One Room at a Time
First things first. When you jump from room to room, rooms never get finished. Start with the smallest room in your home and clean it from top to bottom. Seeing the results will motivate you to move on to the next room. Best of all, each room will actually get finished rather than partially cleaned.
Devote 15 Minutes to Cleaning
Each day, spend just 15 minutes cleaning. Go to the room you’re currently working on and work for 15 minutes. It may not seem like a lot of time, but you’ll be surprised at how much you can get done. Spending that small amount of time cleaning a room for an entire week will give you a room that is completely spotless.
Start with One Small Task
Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by the big picture. Instead, start with one small part of a room and clean it. For example, you might start in your bathroom and decide to wash the sink and mirror. Your next job would be to wash the toilet inside and out. And, so on and so on. When you focus on one small area at a time, you’re most apt to get things done.
Finish One Task Before Moving to the Next
Don’t go from project to project, this only leave a mess of unfinished projects in your wake. Take the time finish one project before moving to the next. There are, of course, exceptions. If you’re washing laundry, you can obviously do other things. But if you’re cleaning down surfaces in your kitchen, don’t stop to go through the stack of mail.
Bring in the Reinforcements
Last, but not least, you don’t have to do this alone. Get your family involved in spring cleaning. They live there, too. Why should you do all the work? Let your kids tackle what they can in their rooms and your husband can tackle the garage and his man cave. This will make spring cleaning seem much less overwhelming.
Spring cleaning is a lot of work, but you can do it, even when you’re busy.
