Between college and grad school, I'm pretty sure I spent a small fortune on text books! There were some books that I ended up keeping after the class was finished (and are currently collecting dust in our garage), but in large part, I sold most of them back to the bookstore at a huge loss.
So, I thought it was really interesting that Amazon has a textbook rental program. You can rent textbooks between 30 and 360 days for prices up to 60% off the list price of the text book. You will still be able to access any notes and highlights after the rental has expired. Plus, you save back aches from lugging the books around in your backpack.
You do not need to have a Kindle for the program...you can read Kindle books on your PC, Mac, or even a mobile device.
What do you think about textbook rental - good idea or not? Have you tried it before?
