In my quest for a slower and more meaningful December spent with friends and family, I plan on completing 30 Days of tasks to get ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving...and I invite you to join me.
Day 6: Brainstorm Gift Ideas
So, now that you know who you need to buy gifts for as well as your Christmas budget and which gifts you have already purchased, it's time to brainstorm gift ideas.
Depending on your style of giving and how well you know the recipient, you could come up with a list of ideas yourself or you could ask the person (or their parent) for ideas. Think creatively since we're going to address homemade gifts tomorrow.
You may encounter some resistance if you ask for gift ideas now (since it's not yet Halloween), but just explain that you're trying to get your Christmas planning done early...and who knows maybe they'll join you on the quest for a more laid-back holiday!
Set aside a page in your Holiday Notebook to list each person whom you plan to give a gift as well as a couple of ideas for each person.
Our Gift Idea List:
My boys have had Christmas on the brain for at least a month now, and it seems like their gift ideas change at least weekly. I plan on try to pin them down to some ideas that will stick through Christmas. Since they are older and we really only give them things on birthdays and Christmas, I want to make sure I purchase something that's on their list.
My husband is difficult to buy for, since he'll tell me some boring thing like dress shirts for work. I'll have to think hard to get creative for him.
I plan on asking my sister and sisters'-in-law for some ideas for their kids, although I already have a gift purchased for my almost 2 year old nephew (at that age they're easy to buy for).
What about you?
