WARNING: this is not really a frugal post, so if you're just looking for a post about money or a deal, you might want to skip this one :-).
Today started out normal (other than knowing I'd be busy tonight doing taxes). Since it's spring break, I took the boys to McDonalds for lunch so they could play and run off some energy. However, there was a potty malfunction inside the play area, so we all had to leave. I decided to take the boys to the park, and I had run into some old friends at McDonalds, so we joined them at the park.
Somehow, my 5 year old managed to run into the metal play structure while running. I was talking when I saw him running away crying. So, I kind of half-ran to him, thinking something had happened and his feelings had gotten hurt or something (although that's very rare for him). When he turned around he had blood gushing down his face. I kind of panicked (since it did look bad...there was blood everywhere). One of my friends pulled out some wipes, and we applied pressure to it so it stopped bleeding. We called the doctor's office, and they suggested that we go to the ER.
So, I drove there with both my boys. It ended up being a pretty minor cut that they just glued closed. It's right on the hairline, so even if there is a scar, you probably won't be able to see it until he turns middle aged and starts losing his hair :-). I felt so blessed, because a friend of mine from church worked in the ER as a nurse (which I didn't know), and she came in and helped with the procedure.
I thought I would have a $100 copay from the visit, but the hospital told me it was actually a 10% coinsurance, which means that we might have to pay the full bill, since we haven't even started the deductible on my 5 year old. We'll see how the bill turns out...makes me glad that we have an emergency fund.
Then, I went to my last night of work doing taxes. I was amazed at how busy we've been this week. I don't think anyone has owed that I've done this week, so I'm not sure why they put it off until the last minute. Plus, I had one girl call at 8:45 tonight asking if she could come in to get her taxes done (we normally close at 9!). I told her to come in, and I did them for her...talk about the last minute!
I hope you all had a nice tax day...and that you picked up some of the freebies!

that really sucks about the deductible - but in all honesty - you are probably pretty glad that you had taken him to just get it done & be sure - you probably wouldnt' have felt right if you didn't!!! 🙂

jpkittie: Oh, I am most definitely glad that I took him to the ER. At least I know that all was well :-).
