Easter is right around the corner and you may be wondering how you can make the typical egg hunt more exciting. Whether you hide a special egg that holds a special prize or get the pets involved, you will love these Easter egg hunt ideas.
Hide One Special Egg
You can find packs of plastic eggs that have one special golden egg. As you fill the other eggs with candy or small toys, consider adding something special to the golden egg. It can be something that matches the age of the children taking part in the egg hunt. For example, if the kids are small, $5 will be a nice score. Older kids will probably want a bit more money or a special prize that they’ll collect after the hunt, such as a video game or gift card.
Have an Egg Hunt Based on Age
Don’t let older kids hunt for eggs along side the little ones. It’s simply not fair. Do an egg hunt for older kids and younger ones. Or, the older kids can partner up with younger kids to do the hunt. Either way, make it fun for all age groups involved.
Give Different Egg Colors Different Points
Another fun idea is to give different colored eggs a points value. For example, yellow eggs could be worth 5 points while pink eggs are worth 10 points. At the end of the hunt, total up the points and let kids trade in their points for a special prize. It could be fun things from the Dollar Tree.
Do an Inside Hunt
Don’t let rain ruin your Easter egg hunt. You can do the egg hunt indoors, but you may want to choose plastic eggs rather than real ones. Losing an egg indoors can be horrible and result in a nasty surprise a few weeks later.
One year when Easter was early (at the end of March), we had to do our Easter egg hunt in our basement because it had snowed on Easter morning!
Get the Pets Involved
Last, but not least, do something fun for the pets in your family. You can hide treats for them to find. You can hide little bits of fruit in your hamster’s cage. You can hide treats around the living room for your dog to find. Not only is this fun for your pets, but it’s also good for their brains.
An Easter egg hunt can be so much more fun by simply making a few tweaks. You can have a points system, or you can have a special Easter egg hunt for your pets. Either way, everyone is sure to have fun.
