Chances are you know the importance of a having a stockpile. What you may not know is how to stock your pantry without spending a fortune.
It's true that many stockpilers have thousands of dollars worth of food in their stockpile. But how do they do it? The truth is there are many ways to stock your pantry for less. Whether you coupon or know where to find the best deals, you can stock your pantry without spending a fortune.

What is a sales cycle? A sales cycle is when a certain item goes on sale every few weeks. For example, canned vegetables may go on sale every 8 weeks. When you know this cycle (and it will take time to track), you'll learn how much you need to buy to make it until the next sale. This allows you to stock your pantry without having to pay full price.
You can also create and use a price book so you know when each item is the best price to purchase both with or without a coupon and whether the sale really is a good deal.
Coupon
Hands down, one of the best ways to stock your pantry for less is to coupon. If you've never couponed before, it can be tricky. However, there are so many valuable tools out there to help you learn. You can even watch videos on YouTube that will tell you exactly what to buy and which coupons to use.
Once you get the hang of it, you can start creating your own deals by matching coupons to sales. Coupons can be found in Sunday papers, online, and you can even find digital coupons that you can link to your store card. You can also submit your receipts to various companies to earn cash-back after you're finished shopping.
Shop Around
Did you know there are great food deals to be found in places like the Dollar Tree? Now, before you turn your nose up, stop for a minute. The Dollar Tree often stocks name brand products. For example, you may find boxes of your kids' favorite General Mills cereal or boxes of PopTarts. You never know what the Dollar Tree is going to have. It pays to check often. Also be sure to check the date.
Another great place to shop is a grocery outlet. You can find some really good deals. Again, make sure to check the date.
Make Your Own Seasonings and Mixes
Another great way to stock your pantry for less is to make your own seasoning packets and mixes. It's much less expensive (and tastes better) to make your own taco seasoning, pancake mix, etc. Best of all, you know exactly what's in the mix.

Last, but certainly not least, you can stock your pantry for less AND feed your family the purest food possible by having a garden and canning. The cost of growing a garden is so small, especially if you start with seeds.
Even if you do choose to purchase plants, it can still be much less expensive. Look for non-GMO seeds, use natural fertilizers, and then can whatever your family can't eat. You want to go with high-yield plants. This means lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash, etc. Choose what your family enjoys.
