Is there anything better than spending time at the beach? It can be a great way for parents to relax. However, it can also be a great way for kids to have some fun in the sun. Whether it's building sandcastles or bodyboarding, these beach activities will keep your kids happy this summer.
1. Building Sandcastles
Building sandcastles is a wonderful activity for young kids. All you need to buy is a bucket and shovel, which can be found in most dollar stores for very little, and your kids are ready to go. Another great idea is to let your kids bury your husband in the sand. If your kids are older, they may want to work on more elaborate sand sculptures.
2. Riding Inner Tubes
It can be so exciting to kids to get out on the waves and ride them. It's better than any ride at the amusement park and there's no lines. You'll want to keep your eye on your kids at all times while they're in the water (and be aware of any warnings for rip tides which can carry inner tubes out to sea). If your kids are small, you'll also want to be in the water with them. Spend the money to get a good quality tube that won't get torn open by the rough sand.
3. Flying a Kite
Something that kids of all ages can do is fly a kite. You can actually find kites at your local Dollar Tree. This is a great way to see if your kids will actually like kite flying before investing in a more expensive kite. If you find that your child loves flying a kite, you can invest in a more expensive kite for the next time you visit the beach.
4. Playing with a Beach Ball
If your kids are really small, it won't take much to keep them entertained. You can find beach balls in lmost any dollar store. All you need to do is blow it up when you get to the beach and deflate it when you're ready to leave.
5. Bodyboarding or Surfing
Last, but not least, bodyboarding or surfing is a great activity for older children. If you don't want to invest in a board, you can rent them at the beach. Your kids can even get lessons at many beaches. It's highly recommended that you rent boards on your first trip or if you don't go to the beach very often. There's no reason to spend a lot of money on boards that your family won't use but once a year (or less).
There are so many fun things for kids to do at the beach this summer. Whether it's flying a kite or playing ball, your kids will love spending time in the sun while you sit back and relax.
