A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about making your own birthday cakes to save money. Well, the FishMama at Life as Mom is hosting a Birthday Cake Roundup. If you're interested in seeing some really cute cakes for future ideas, visit her site. Here are some of the cakes that I've made over the years...

Love the Boz cake! You are very talented!

Wow, good job, Corrie! Your cakes are professional quality...beautiful. Did you take a class to learn how to decorate them?
I make my kids' birthday cakes, but they never look professional. I haven't ever been able to take a class. I've just read the Wilton yearbooks, trying to glean some tips, and I have two cake decorating books (just thin booklets really). The rest has been trial and error. 🙂

Thanks for the wonderful comments!
No, I haven't taken a class to learn how to decorate cakes, but my mom always made our cakes when we were growing up, and I watched her make them. She also let us practice on cupcakes sometimes :-). I've thought about taking a Wilton class at Michaels to learn some of the things that I don't know (like I pretty much only know how to do stars :-).

I always have to give so much credit to anyone who does the little stars icing. I don't think I'd have the patience to finish a whole cake! They're very cute cakes BTW! 🙂
