Last week, I explained the ins and outs of shopping at CVS. It can be really confusing to new shoppers at CVS.
However, Rite Aid (aka Longs, Brooks, and Eckerds) is a lot easier program to shop. Here are the basics:
- Rite Aid has a monthly rebate program called the Single Check Rebate (SCR). You can either pick up a rebate book from the front of the store each month or look at the list online here (click on View Offers). Many times, the best rebates are only good for a week period and the item is on sale also.
- Rite Aid also added a rewards program, called +UP Rewards. When an item qualifies for a +UP Reward, it will print on the bottom of the receipt to be used for your next purchase. Find out more information about the program at +UP Rewards 101.
When you make a purchase that's eligible for an SCR, you can either enter your receipts online or save up all the receipts and mail them in at the end of the month. You can only make one check request for the month, so it's best to wait until the end of the month. You will receive your check a couple of weeks after requesting it. It will come on a postcard, and you can either deposit it at your bank or use it to make a purchase at Rite Aid. Please note: I usually have trouble depositing the check at the ATM, but I've never had a problem when I deposit it through the drive-thru.
- In the weekly flyer, Rite Aid usually offers in-store coupons. These are Rite Aid coupons (unless they specifically state Manufacturer Coupon) and they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons (and combined with an SCR).
- Rite Aid accepts manufacturer's coupons. In the past, the official policy was that they did not accept internet printables (although some stores did), but they have recently changed that policy so that they now ACCEPT internet printables (up to $5) as well as coupons from the newspaper inserts.
- Occasionally, Rite Aid will also offer a coupon such as $5 off a $25 purchase that can be stacked with the other coupons and SCRs. You will want to purchase $25 worth of goods and give the $5 off $25 purchase coupon first and then hand the cashier the rest of your coupons.
Do you shop at Rite Aid and take advantage of the SCRs? Did I miss anything in my tutorial?

Useful post- thanks for sharing! I do the deals at CVS and Walgreen's, but haven't tried RiteAid as I'd have to drive to another town. Next time I read about a really great deal there, though, I might just make that drive!
My WFMW tip this week is about choosing useful freebies instead of clutter.

I LOVE Rite Aid. I don't spend any "out of pocket" money there anymore. I just recycle my rebate money (with coupons of course) and get everything for free.

FYI i wrote to the rite aid customer service people and they said that any store coupon that says "RC48" or "RC49" in the UPC can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon regardless of whether it says "store coupon" or not.

You have this printed for this week Oct 3rd 2010. The $2/2 Sauve Item Oct RA printable is a Manufacturer's coupon as well as the $0.50/1 suave Natural printable. Will these stack even though the $2 one has Rite Aids name on it along with manufacturer???

Carol,
Yes, those coupons will stack...the easiest way to tell is to look at the bottom of the coupon. The coupon has RC49 stated there. You can stack a manufacturer's coupon, an RC48, and RC49 coupon on one item.

I have a quick question. Is there a limit on the UP rewards you can earn? The Rite Aid ads don't seem to specify a limit the way CVS specifies how many times you can earn the ECB rewards.
Corrie @ "Cents"able Momma
Rite Aid has gone back and forth with printing a limit in their ads. It started out with no limit...then it said Limit 1 for everything (but it wasn't really true), and recently they are back to not printing a limit.
As far as I can tell, many items (at least in the past) had a "hidden" limit. Meaning that you could purchase several items and get +UP Rewards and then suddenly for the next same item, it wouldn't print. And it was different for every item.
I think it would be safe to say that unless the ad specifies Limit 1 (which it does for very few items) that you will likely get more than 1 +UP Reward per item. If you purchase something and a +UP Reward does not print, you can always return the last item.
Hope that helps!

Are we able to print off multiple VV coupons of the same item or has it changed to where they will only scan and work ONCE? I knwow in the past I was able to just change the number of coupies at the print screen but Ive heard in the past they found a way around this,... any advice?

The VV coupons are tracked via your Wellness card, so you can only use them once per card.

They frequently have a $3 off a $15 order [if you fill out a survey at a website that is printed on a receipt] in my area.
They have a dollar zone - where everything is a dollar and sometimes have those on clearance - 25-75% off. I once filled one of their small grocery carts with cleaning supplies and such for $12 plus tax; with no coupons - ouch! I am a neophyte.

I have encountered a situation when I shopped with my coupons.
Last week, I was trying to shop the "Clean and Clear" deal (Purchase $15 and get $5 Up Rewards) with newspaper inserts manufacturer coupons and their in-ad coupons.
I bought 2 body wash ($6.99 ea) and a facial cleaser ($5.99). I was told that I had to purchase MORE in order to receive the Up Rewards because after using the coupons, it would NOT make the total of $15, so that way, I would not be given the $5 Up Rewards, according to that manager. Ended Up, I needed to purchase 2 more bottles of body washes than I needed.
So I guess my question here is, Is the Up-Rewards be given based of the total BEFORE or AFTER the coupons?
Thank you!!!

The +UP Rewards should print based on the before coupon price, so the manager was wrong on that one. The manager has no control over the +UP Reward printing out...it's the register that prints the +UP Reward based on the pre-coupon price.
