Although it's super easy to collect Box Tops for Education™ by clipping them off hundreds of select General Mills® products, everyone loves a challenge (and your school will benefit too).
For each Box Top that your school sends in, the school earns $0.10. Plus, throughout the year, select products have promotions where you can earn more - like the Bonus Box Tops products sold at Walmart right now.
Last year, our school earned over $1,700 just by collecting Box Tops and sending them in. We're actually a pretty small school (about 350 students total K - 12th grade), so how did we accomplish this?
We made collecting Box Tops a competition! Each elementary school class had a one week period to collect and bring in as many Box Tops as they could. The winning class won a pizza party (and were super excited about it!). I was amazed that the winning class brought in more than 1,000 Box Tops alone!
How does a class with less than 30 students bring in over 1,000 Box Tops? Each family knows that the school has two Box Top contests each year (in the spring and fall) and encourages friends and family to collect them and share.
I keep a small container handy in our kitchen. Each time we finish a product with a Box Top on it, I cut out the Box Top and store it in my container before I recycle the box. I've even been known to give my husband a hard time if he accidentally recycles before clipping :-).
I also love it when I can earn bonus Box Tops, like the promotion going on only at Walmart right now - you can earn 4 bonus Box Tops (for a total of 5 per package) on select General Mills products. It helps me collect even more Box Tops to help my son's class win the competition!
How does your school make it fun to collect Box Tops? Do you think a competition would help increase the amount your school can earn?
