In my quest for a slower and more meaningful December spent with friends and family, I plan on completing 30 Days of tasks to get ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving...and I invite you to join me.
Day 10: Plan Stocking Stuffers
Although in theory, stocking stuffers should be a small part of your holiday expense, those little items can really add up quickly if you don't watch out.
If you do put little gifts and trinkets in your kids (or your whole family's stockings), be sure that you added the stocking stuffers as a budget item. Now, you want to brainstorm some ideas to add to your stocking and start getting creative with ways to fill them.
If you shop year-round, you can keep your eyes open for great clearance deals. You can still do that now. Plus, you might want to check out the Target $1 section or the $1 store for some ideas. But, you definitely want to do your shopping now - you don't want to be making a last-second trip to the store because you forgot stocking stuffers!
Our Stocking Stuffers:
We actually fill stockings for our entire family. My husband and I fill each other's stockings, and then I usually buy the stuff to fill my boys' stockings.
We have several items that are traditions such as Christmas tree ornaments, M&M sticks for the boys and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Oreos for my husband, so I just need to find a good deal on them. Other small items, I try to add either based on great clearance finds or based on their interests at that time.
What about you?
