Several years ago I joined a couple of survey sites to earn a little extra money. I didn’t make millions (or even hundreds), but it was nice to earn a little extra spending money for my families.

There are lots of survey sites out there, but it can be tough to determine which sites are worth using. Some sites seem pretty spammy, and some sites try to charge YOU to take surveys.

For the next couple of weeks, I’m going to introduce you to a couple of my favorite survey sites at a time. These next few sites are fairly new to me.

Surveys for Cash

Several years ago I joined a couple of survey sites to earn a little extra money. I didn’t make millions (or even thousands), but it was nice to earn a little extra spending money for my families.

There are lots of survey sites out there, but it can be tough to determine which sites are worth using. Some sites seem pretty spammy, and some sites try to charge YOU to take surveys.

For the next couple of weeks, I’m going to introduce you to a couple of my favorite survey sites at a time.

Usual per survey amount: $1.50 to $4.00

One of my favorite survey sites, HCD Surveys, sends out an e-mail after each American Idol show. All you have to do is click for the contestant that you think should move on to the next show and you get 10 point (which equals $0.10).

I also periodically receive survey requests which are worth about $0.50. They are usually pretty fun, since they are short and about a current topic at the time. Plus, they usually send you the results of the survey within a couple of days.

If you’re interested, you can join HCD Surveys here. The small amounts add up over time, and you can cash out once you reach $10.00.

Find out more about various survey companies that I use here.

I was VERY busy this month with my blog, so I did not do many surveys at all…but here’s what I did do. You can still earn money, even when you spend very little time doing them.

I have been a member of each of the companies listed for at least 6 months, and I only join survey companies where I earn money or points that can convert to money or gift cards. I don’t feel like it’s worth my time just to get an entry in a drawing.

For the surveys attempted, but not qualified for, it usually only took a minute or so to find out I was not qualified. As you can see, I get more surveys from some companies than others.

Total Earned: $10.03

SurveyHead - $3.00

3 surveys attempted

Qualified for 2

Paid $ by Paypal or with gift cards when you reach $25 minimum. Get $5 bonus when you register

Buzzback Panel – $3.00

2 surveys attempted

Qualified for 1

Paid $ by Paypal several days later (you are paid automatically after every survey)

Valued Opinions – $2.50

2 surveys attempted

Qualified for 1

Paid in Amazon gift cards (or $20 prepaid Visa) when you reach $20 balance

My Survey – $0.85 (or 85 points)

6 surveys attempted – the nice thing is you get 10 points for every attempted survey

Qualified for 0

Paid in points – 1000 points = $10 – can cash out when you reach 1000 point balance

4 surveys attempted

Paid in points – if you don’t qualify for the survey, you get 10 points added to your account.
I plan on trying a new survey company soon (anyone have any ones you like that I should try?), and once I have some experience with it, I’ll give a review.

I have been a member of each of the companies listed for at least 6 months, and I only join survey companies where I earn money or points that can convert to money or gift cards. I don’t feel like it’s worth my time just to get an entry in a drawing.

I did not keep track of the time needed to fill out the survey, although I may add that soon. For the surveys attempted, but not qualified for, it usually only took a minute or so to find out I was not qualified. As you can see, I get more surveys from some companies than others.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve taken surveys with various companies in an effort to earn some extra money. I was pretty consistent in doing surveys for Harris Poll Interactive and Erewards (more on this one later…since it’s a great earner for Upromise money). However, I’ve now been reading up on many other survey companies. I’ll create a list of some of the survey companies that I like later, but I wanted to focus on Opinion Outpost for now.

I don’t know if I’m just in the target market that they’ve been looking for later, but I have qualified for 11 surveys since I signed up in late May, and earned about $39.70. Usually survey pay averages about $3 a survey, and they will send you a check in the mail as soon as you reach $5 in earnings. Of course, you don’t necessarily qualify for every survey, but if you don’t qualify, it doesn’t take much time to do the screening questions. Sometimes, they’ll even mail you a sample of the product they’re asking about for you to try.

Just as a note: they list the pay in points…10 points = $1.
