In my quest for a slower and more meaningful December spent with friends and family, I plan on completing 30 Days of tasks to get ready for Christmas before Thanksgiving...and I invite you to join me.
Day 15: Create a Christmas Card List
So you got your holiday photos done yesterday and tomorrow we're going to talk about ordering your Christmas cards. But today, we need to figure out our Christmas card list so that we know how many cards to order. Based on the price of the cards and your holiday budget, you may need to pare down your list a bit, but for now include everyone you'd like to send a card.
I have a Christmas Card database, which is actually an Excel spreadsheet, that I use to keep track of everyone's addresses. I can use the spreadsheet to create a mail merge document for my labels. It's really quite easy to create, and I have a full tutorial on how to create the Christmas Card database if you need one. It really minimizes the work each year (after the initial data entry).
Our Christmas Card List:
Like I mentioned above, I keep a Christmas Card database list. Not only can I see at a glance how many cards I need to order, but it also makes it super easy to address envelopes with mail-merge labels. I usually add a cute Christmas clip art to the labels to make up for any lack of handwritten personalization.
I also keep a column in my database to keep track of whether I receive a card from each person. Not that I won't send out cards if I don't receive one, but it's handy to have just in case the budget requires cuts to my list.
What about you?
