My Betty Crocker Party Cakes

I grew up watching my mom make birthday cakes for my sister and I.  So, as soon as I had kids, I also started to make their birthday cakes.  Over the years, I have made a wide variety of cakes from Pooh to Curious George to a 3D Lightning McQueen.

This year, my 4 year old wanted a Buzz Lightyear cake.  I didn’t want to try to draw a Buzz onto the cake, so I did a quick internet search and found the space/planet idea to make things a little more simple.  He LOVED it…and he loved the fact that he got to keep the Buzz and spaceship when he was done blowing out the candles.

I guess all the cakes that I’ve brought to family birthday parties over the years, inspired my sister-in-law to ask me to make the graduation cake for our niece’s open house last weekend, too.

What do all my cakes have in common?  I have made them all with Betty Crocker cake mixes. Betty Crocker cakes always turn out yummy and moist for me.  My favorite cake mix is the Betty Crocker Butter Recipe Chocolate :-) .

Plus, I personally request the Betty Crocker Whipped Chocolate Frosting on my own birthday cakes that my MIL makes and the Vanilla Frosting is great on sugar cookies.

BettyCrocker.com has some great cake ideas to get you started on your own party cake…as well as how-to videos.
