Frugal Family Fun: Strawberry Picking

Recently my boys and I met some friends and went to a U-pick strawberry farm.  Besides the fun that we had outdoors with friends, we also were able to pick the best-tasting strawberries I’ve ever had for only $1.49/pound – $4.26 for all you see in my box.

Last year, I missed the strawberry picking, but I signed up for a crop update e-mails from our local farm.  If you’re not sure where to find a farm near you, visit Pick Your Own.org to find a local farm.

What about you?  Do you enjoy picking your own fruits and vegetables from a farm?  What’s your favorite item to pick?

We did this too! As a matter of fact we had just eaten our last pint of freezer jam the day we went.
We usually go to the same place for Raspberries sometime in August.
