I thought that I would keep track of the surveys that I’ve done this month to help you get an idea of what to expect when you join a survey company.
I was rather busy this month, so I didn’t get to try all the surveys that I received…but here’s what I did do.
I have been a member of each of the companies listed for at least 6 months, and I only join survey companies where I earn money or points that can convert to money or gift cards. I don’t feel like it’s worth my time just to get an entry in a drawing.
For the surveys attempted, but not qualified for, it usually only took a minute or so to find out I was not qualified. As you can see, I get more surveys from some companies than others.
Total Earned: $19.48
Valued Opinions – $5.50, plus a product trial
- 9 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 3
- Paid in Amazon gift cards when you reach $20 balance
Buzzback Panel – $3.00
- 4 survey attempted
- Qualified for 1
- Paid $ by Paypal several days later (you are paid automatically after every survey)
Survey Head – $2.50
- 13 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 2
- Paid $ by Paypal or with gift cards when you reach $25 minimum
- Get $5 bonus when you register
My Survey – $2.30 (or 230 points)
- 4 surveys attempted – the nice thing is you get 10 points for every attempted survey
- Qualified for 1
- Paid in points – 1000 points = $10 – can cash out when you reach 1000 point balance
Synovate – Global Opinion Panels – $2.15
- 7 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 2
- Paid in points – 5000 points = $5 – can cash out when you reach 5000 point balance
Survey Savvy – $2.00
- 3 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 1
- Paid in $ with no balance required for cashout. I don’t get a lot of surveys from them, but they pay well and I can get my money fairly quickly.
HCD Surveys- $1.00
- 2 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 2
- Paid $ by check once you reach the 1000 point ($10) threshhold
My Points – $0.50 from surveys alone…I earned more points from clicking through on e-mails
- 7 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 0
- Paid in points – if you don’t qualify for the survey, you get 10 points added to your account. I find this is a really easy way to add up my points (besides just clicking through on e-mails. 1400 points = $10 Panera gift card (but there are MANY more options)
Lightspeed Survey – $0.43
- 2 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 1 really short one
- Paid in points – 575 points = $5 – can cash out when you reach 575 point balance – paid via Paypal
Erewards – $0.31 in Upromise earnings
- 3 surveys attempted
- Qualified for 0
- Paid in $ that you can use to cash in for Upromise (college) savings. Get $2.00 in Upromise earnings just for signing up for Erewards. I earned $50 in Upromise earnings earlier this year through Erewards. To join Erewards through Upromise, click on Ways to Earn, More, and then Erewards.
Other good survey sites that I did not complete any surveys (although I did get invitations)

I’m curious how many hours you put into those surveys. How much per hour does that $19 break down too.
I used to do Pinecone Research back when they paid $5 a survey but the surveys kept getting longer and the amount they paid dropped so it just wasn’t worth it anymore.
I started to keep track of the time for each survey, but I found it to be too complicated to keep track of…especially when a child would ask for something in the middle and I’d have to continue the survey later

Usually a survey will state up front how long the survey is expected to last. I keep a spreadsheet with how much points equals how much money so I can determine up front if it’s worth it. I don’t want to do a half hour survey for $0.50, for example.
