Thanks to MyBlogspark and Procter & Gamble, I was able to accept Operation: Enduring Clean and test the new Swiffer WetJet.
When the case arrived at my house, my boys were enthralled with it, because the WetJet was packaged in a huge briefcase, and when you opened it, a voice started saying, “Your mission, should you accept it…”. They opened the case over and over just to hear the voice. I was just excited to try the new WetJet
.
Most of my home is hard wood floors (and we have a cat), so I have used the dry Swiffer for many years to get the cat hair up off the floor. We also had one of the older versions of the WetJet. But, I think they have made some great improvements to the new version:
Pros:
- I love how the new WetJet has 2 nozzles to spray the cleaner rather than just 1 that my earlier version has. It seems to do a great job of spray coverage.
- I like the new scrubbing strip to get some of the dirtier spots. My old WetJet did not have a scrubbing strip at all. Sometimes it did seem a bit awkward to turn the pad around to use the scrubbing strip, but I got the hang of it with practice.
- I’m kind of embarrassed how dirty my kitchen floor had become…and the WetJet did a great job of cleaning the floor. It smelled good and felt clean to the touch. I’m sure if I had used a mop and bucket, I would have started seeing dirty streaks across the floor.
- The WetJet has a special cleaner that I can purchase to use on my hardwood floors.
- The WetJet is portable, so I can whip it out to clean up a small mess (like a milk spill) rather than getting out a mop and bucket.
- It’s also quite sturdy. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all.
Cons
- A Swiffer WetJet is more expensive than using a mop and bucket…but there are usually coupons in the P&G inserts and there are some here. I find a WetJet is convenient enough for me that it’s worth the added expense. I always use coupons when I’m purchasing the refills. The starter kit apparently retails for about $22. This week, you can purchase it for $17.99 at Target, use a coupon from the 8/30 PG insert to get a free refill with your purchase, plus use a $1.00 Target coupon from the 8/23 RP insert. It also is one of the products that qualifies for a $5.00 Target gift card when you purchase 2 qualifying items.
- Of course with all disposable cleaning products, there is an environmental impact. I kind of wish there was an option to purchase a pad that would still attach to the velcro on the mop but could be washed and reused.
All in all, I would definitely recommend the Swiffer WetJet. Like I said, I’ve been using one of the older models for years. Would I recommend that you upgrade from an earlier version (like what I had) to the new and improved version? It is improved, but I can’t really justify the expense to upgrade if you already own the WetJet (unless you really want a scrubbing strip or you don’t like how the 1 nozzle version sprays).
Do you own a Swiffer WetJet? What do you think?

I have been using only a Swiffer Wet Jet for a few years now. The mop and bucket really didn’t do a better job and this is much more convienent. I did notice the upgrade and was considering it. My current one had a side scrubber but it was shot and I can’t find a replacement in store. Plus the 2 spray feature looked pretty convienent. This is my first house in awhile with hardwoods. My question is while most of my house has hardwood floors. I have two bathrooms and a kitchen with laminate. Once you pop that Swiffer solution in I don’t think you can take it off and re-put it on. I haven’t bought the hardwood floor one for that reason (I don’t want to use hardwood floor cleaner on laminate). I have just stuck to the Febreeze smelling one since I like the scent. Did you like the hardwood floor cleaner? How did you clean your hardwood floors before? Simple sweep and mop?
Hi Michelle,
Actually, you can pop the solutions in and out of the WetJet. There is a button you can push, and the solution will pop right out. I have not tried the hardwood floor cleaner on the new WetJet yet (just the all-purpose cleaner), but it works well with my old one. Before I had the WetJet, I would mop with Murphy Oil mixed with water. Hope that helps! Please feel free to leave additional comments (or e-mail me) if you have any more questions.
I love the new Swiffer Wetjet, but it came with 1 scrubbing strip. I’ve used it and want to replace it, but cannot find where to purchase them. You can purchase the solution and cleaning pads just about anywhere, but not the scrubbing strips. Can you help me out?
Unfortunately, I have not looked for the scrubbing strips, so I don’t know where to buy them…but I did a quick online search, and they do look pretty hard to find. Sorry I’m not much help
