This time of year, there are usually lots of activities going on around town. But, how do you keep track of them, or even find out about them?
There’s a great website called Parents Connect which lists various events going on around town. You can even sign up for a free newsletter, which will be sent to you each week on Thursday, highlighting the various events going on during the weekend and through the next week.
Some of the events may require money and tickets, but this is also a great way to find out about the free events that you can attend also.
When you click through to Parents Connect the first time, you need to choose a location (they offer about 50 locations). Once you’ve found your location, you can look for general things to do (like museums, etc) by Type of Day, Kind of Fun, and your Child’s Age or you can check out the Calendar Events. Plus, you can sigh up for the newsletter described above.

I love that site!
I also bookmark my local; newspaper’s website and search its calendar weekly to find out what is going on in the area that is fun, frugal/free.
Thanks for the shout-out Corrie – we love your site too!
GoCityKids (which is transitioning to ParentsConnect.com/local, but the gocitykids.com url works too), is actually *everywhere* in the US, but we currently only have newsletters in about 45 cities. But those newsletters are pretty darn good (if we do say so ourselves), and in this economy we're knocking ourselves out trying to get great local deals (the Deals & Steals newsletters go out on Mondays; the events newsletters go out on Thursdays – both newsletters are free), and find FREE events for families so we can all get through the current
Recession.
My original point was/is – even if you're not in one of the BIG cities, we're adding stuff everywhere. Type in your zip code and see what we have near you (and if we don't have anything, tell me, drew@gocitykids.com, and we'll get right on it.)
